Zeeshan Shaikh: The Story Behind The SeeKen
Born in a strictly financial conditioned family, he set out not only to change his life around but also influence people, few or many, didn’t matter. Today he has millions of people following him on his journey and getting motivated to take up reading!
Zeeshan Shaikh, also known as Seeken, was born in 1994 in Mumbai. His father was a taxi driver. Living in a poverty-stricken home and not being much educated, Zeeshan’s parents still tried to make the best out of everything and made ends meet only to give their son everything they could. He studied in a convent school and passed his 10th grade with flying colours. After this, he decided to go for science and hence took the same for class 12.
His father not having enough funds for his further medical education and Zeeshan scoring less in 12th made him pursue a diploma in engineering. He was always a bright student and had thought he would again make his parents proud by doing and being good academically.
He also liked helping out his classmates with their doubts. He was so good at teaching and further was asked to become a lecturer in some outside tuition classes. He soon quit the job realising it was providing not much value to children and even to himself.
Zeeshan being the smart kid that he was, started finding ways to earn money as he saw his seniors struggle with jobs and knew he had no future for himself if he followed the same path of hunting and doing jobs. He researched a lot about how and what the richest men and women around the world had in common and started to find answers. The first answer was to book. He noticed that most of them had an excellent habit of reading. Zeeshan also loved to read and he read the best self-help books that there were out there.
He combined the knowledge that he had acquired and started a YouTube channel for books. His idea was to inculcate the importance and value of reading books and also to provide useful information concerning the same to people. He made animated videos, edited them and did whatever was necessary, all single-handedly. In spite of his efforts, the channel wasn’t catching fire.
He then thought of making a video in Hindi and so he did. The video was about explaining the concepts of the book - Rich dad poor dad. This video went completely viral and this is what really took everything to the next level.
He really worked hard for his channel until his last year ended and finally his channel stabilised. Zeeshan did not want to do a job so he continued working as hard as he could for his channel. His ultimate goal was to provide insightful content to people and also to help them follow their passion. He was successful in doing that and makes videos regarding the same even today.
He struggled to reach the place he is at today by giving so much value to people.
